We are the "selecting medium" for galleries in their search for new talent. In doing so, we enter into a close cooperation or partnership with the galleries. We accompany our artists in all career phases and thus also the associated galleries. The extent of the cooperation between NOA and galleries depends on the respective career phases of the artist.
We accompany our artists in all career phases and so do the associated galleries. The extent of the cooperation between NOA and galleries depends on the respective career phases of the artist.
Career phase 1:
Artists with future potential before their breakthrough (not established in the market)
Role NOA: We invest a lot of time and resources in building up selected artists and thus minimise the initial risk of the galleries in a collaboration. Only when their potential has matured are they recommended to the appropriate galleries. We promote artists even before their breakthrough by accepting those who show future potential into our network and getting to know them better through training opportunities and exhibitions. In order to provide a financial basis, we take on the role of gallerist:in during the development phase of the artist:in and sell works in the agency's environment.
Extent of cooperation with galleries: Galleries will be contacted as soon as the potential of artists has matured. artists with matured potential will be recommended to galleries.
Career phase 2:
Emerging artists during their breakthrough (establishment process)
Role NOA: For emerging artists we take over the management as soon as suitable galleries have been found and they have been accepted into their programme. We then work as an advisory and mediating body between the artist:in and gallery. Here Janik Bürgin counts as a success story. His promising career was strongly promoted by NOA through onward placement with the Urs Meile Gallery from Lucerne and Beijing.
Extent of cooperation with galleries: We actively refer the artist(s) to galleries. A close cooperation with selected galleries is established. The main objective is that the artist is included in the gallery's programme and thus the work sales are handled through the gallery. An additional aim is to become an advisory body for galleries by recommending suitable artists and validating its future potential.
Career phase 3:
Emerging artists after their breakthrough (established in the market)
NOA role: We also act as managers for up-and-coming artists artists who are already successful in the market, as in the case of Simon Berger, who has already joined the agency with several gallery representations. Here we take over project management, coordination between the galleries and act proactively in the further development of Berger's career. In this way, the artist can focus completely on his art and benefits from our network.
Scope of cooperation with galleries: We are the central point of contact for galleries for all concerns regarding an artist. Sales of works are handled by the gallery. In case of questions about the portfolio or other administrative or coordinative enquiries, the gallery turns to us, as we now assume the role of project management and coordination office.
